EXHIBITION IN COLOGNE - GERMANY
November 30th, 2009Anbuley Illustration - 3D and 2D mixed media
November 24th, 2009After I did the 3D sculpture I felt that it will be nice to finish the illustration with 2D digital paint.
Here it is:

Anbuley 3D study - Quick making of
November 20th, 2009All right friends. The futuristic artwork of Anbuley is not finished yet, but at least the 3D step, so I am happy to share a short making of with you. Especially for the technical interested:
The Head was first modeled in Maya from a low poly base mesh thatI have created some time ago. So a flexible and solid foundation. I have imported this head into Z-Brush and sculpt i by using a hand full of brushes (Move, Inflat, Standart, Smooth, Flatten). I have subdived it to more then one million Polygons and exported a lower res version back into maya, where I have set up the lighting and shaders. A hdri plus a area light and a couple of layers to be flexible during compositing (Specular, Diffuse, Subsurface Scattering, Ambient Occlusion…).
In Z-Brush I have created a 8K displacement map plus some 2K - 4K maps for the specular and diffuse channels. Some photoshop work for minor touch ups and modifications of the maps.
You can find a turntable animation of the head here: TURNTABLE ANIMATION
The leashes and eye brows have been created as poligon objects, using paint effects as a base for the brows.
A couple of days of work and soon I gonna start the 2D digital paint session - That will be fun
Anbuley - 3D Character
November 20th, 2009Here is a 3D character that I am working on at the moment. I gonna embed the Sculpture into an digital painting soon. I don’t know where this will lead exactly but there is something deep in my mind that wants to hop onto the paper and screen.
I was inspired by a singer and friend. Her name is Anbuley by the way…
I will publish some step by step infos for the creation of the 3D model soon, too.
So hold on!
